Good Hygiene is always in Style!!

HELLO!! Fashion Beauties,

Hi! It’s your girl TerryAnn here with Style & Fashion tips 102! For this article, I want to discuss all things relating to Beauty. We all know that being fashionable without proper hygiene isn’t being a true fashionista!

I would like to start off by sharing some natural ways to stay fresh if you can’t afford high end products or just maybe you’re unable to purchase any type of product because you set yourself on a budget to handle business first.

Well I’m here to help!

I was born and raised in Jamaica, so I’m used to my grandparents always going to the ground for anything. As a child, if I had a headache they would tell me I needed some “Bush tea”. Only them and God knows what that means, but listen to me, it certainly cured my headache though! LOL

So being an entrepreneur there could be times you hit some low points in life where you have to become very resourceful. You maybe tired of the chemicals in all these products you are using or you’re just skeptical after reading that one of your favorite products could possibly give you cancer.

Tip 1.

As Humans we all have something called body odor if we don’t do what we are supposed to in order to prevent it. Here is a very inexpensive way to stay fresh without breaking the bank:

(Believe it or not, I discovered this tip by accident.)

Daily showers are necessary. It’s even better if you can try doing it twice a day.  After a shower and shaving session, my underarms were irritated. So to sooth the irritation I used rubbing alcohol but I didn’t apply any deodorant because I was concerned it would make it worse.  I got dressed and went about my day. When I returned home that evening

I realized that I never sweated once under my arms. I also didn’t have even the slightest odor and I was amazed. So I became curious and rushed to Google. This is what I found out....

Rubbing Alcohol is an anti-bacterial agent and kills the odor-causing bacteria. Sweat does not smell but once the the sweat hits the bacteria it starts to develop an odor.  So using rubbing alcohol to freshen your armpits will kill Bacteria that causes the odor, while having a drying effect, which helps prevent excessive sweating.

Tip 2.

Oral hygiene:

Yes ladies, we are talking about your mouth. The mouth is probably used more than any parts of your body on a daily basis so we want to keep it nice and fresh. Please, please brush your teeth.

Keep reading and I’ll share some inexpensive tips to keep that breath fresh on a budget.

My daily oral hygiene consists of:

Brushing with crest toothpaste. I love Crest, especially because of the whiting effect and it works for me.

I gargle with Crest mouth wash after brushing. I prefer the one that offers whiting benefits as well.

I also floss. I’m not very picky when it comes to choosing a brand but I try to use the ones that have a handle.

Here are the inexpensive ways to keep that mouth fresh:

Baking Soda: Did you know that baking soda is a good substitute for toothpaste? Not only is it good for cleaning but it also help remove stains off of your teeth leaving them looking whiter.

Hydro peroxide: This is another product I learned about its effectiveness by accident LOL

I really dislike going to the dentist and a few year ago I woke up with a horrible toothache.  It was bad and I was afraid to even brush, but I knew I had to see the dentist and I didn’t want to go without brushing my teeth. My gums were extremely sore so I decided to gargle with hydroperoxide thinking it would help with the tenderness. I’m aware that it’s very good for cuts on skin so I thought maybe my mouth is tender because of a bad tooth which probably has minor cuts from brushing too hard. Once I gargled with it, OH MY GOSH, it made my mouth feel super fresh. After my research, this is what I find out:

Hydrogen peroxide is a mild antiseptic used on the skin to prevent infection of minor cuts, scrapes, and burns. It may also be used as a mouth rinse to help remove mucus or to relieve minor mouth irritation (e.g., due to canker/cold sores, gingivitis).

Ding ding! I was right to use it to help with my gum tenderness 😀😀 Also another plus, it helps remove stains from your teeth and make them look a shade whiter. An extra tip...try using it at night and you will wake up with fresh breath...or maybe that’s just me 🤷🏾‍♀️😃

Tip 3.

Skin is definitely a hot topic on all the social media platforms so I know you want to look your best and that includes having great looking skin. I’m not a product junky but I dabble here and there in a few expensive items. I know everyone can’t keep up with the Jones LOL so you have to get resourceful.

I don’t break out much but if I do that means my body is trying to tell me something. Either I have eaten too much candy in one day (sour patch kids are my favorite 😀) or my water intake has been low for the week. Here is how I cure my break out.

Tip 1. Lemon Juice: I squeeze fresh lemon in a cup then I use a cotton ball to rub the lemon juice all over my face. Sometimes I sleep with it on or just let it sit for 10 mins then wash it off and go. My research shows lemon juice is reportedly said to reduce oil (sebum) due to the drying effects of citric acid. It has antiseptic qualities which may kill bacteria that lead to acnes such as P. acne. It reduces redness and inflammation that may help treat inflammatory acne as well as leftover scars.

Tip 2: This method I recently found out about blew my mind how effective it is. One day I ran out of toner and I was annoyed because I really wanted to tone my skin. Toner helps remove all the extra dirt and makeup your soap didn’t get. For some reason my mind instantly thought about milk. Then I started thinking, maybe I’m just hungry so milk will be the solution because it certainly couldn’t be for my face. I couldn’t shake my initial thought so I decided to research it and I was blown away by the information I received. I rushed to try it and OH MY GOSH, my skin was in love. My research shows: Cleopatra was known to bathe in milk to maintain her beautifully, youthful complexion. A milk bath leaves your skin feeling soft and supple. The fat and protein in the milk provide this immediate benefit in your bathwater. Milk also helps exfoliate the skin for additional softness and hydrates your skin as well.

Well beauties, I hope you find all of this helpful and at least try one of them whether you are  on a budget or not.. Until next time.
